Each in Equal Ruin
Hardened lovers thrust toward the depths
So they might touch that which hides
Far past their sight;
And orders earth to bend in distance
Beyond the rise that breaks the sky.
Where lovers lie,
Side by side;
Each in equal ruin.
-MW Mills
Each in Equal Ruin is an autobiographical assemblage of the artist’s original imagery archive built by more than 15 years of working as an artist, photographer, and designer.
The work, and its companion poem, reference the death of a lover, partner, and friend; and the survivor’s guilt that drove the artist to multiple suicide attempts.
